Speaker 1:

All right, welcome back to the Transparent Nature podcast. This is our career chat bite-sized inspiration. These quick episodes will bring you motivation, actionable tips as well as reliable insights to fuel your career actionable tips as well as reliable insights to fuel your career. So, with this chat, I have Joshua Tate with us with Halo Vision Media. Joshua, how's it going?

Speaker 2:

Man, I'm doing well. I'm doing well, Prince. How are you doing today, man? Thank you for having me. Oh, absolutely.

Speaker 1:

Let's dive right into the conversation, All right. So let's talk about. You know, for those individuals who work a nine to five and they're looking to, um, you know they have a business plan, a business idea of, uh, something product or service that they want to do, but they're working nine to five and they're trying to transition from nine to five to full time business, Um, tell us some quick steps or some tools or tips to really help them in that.

Speaker 2:

Man. So first off, it does depend on who you are right. I'll speak to that individual first. The one who does not have a family, the one who does not have kids, because that's super important.

Speaker 1:

It's very different.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's super important Now if you don't have a family, you don't have responsibility like children and have a spouse, it's easier for you to take a bigger risk like quitting your job right, you don't have to wait you don't have to wait that long until your business right?

Speaker 2:

Uh, fire you from your job. You don't have to wait. Uh. So I will say you know once you got your business plan. If you're individual with no responsibility, once you got your business plan, you have, you know, things in place already and you're already making money that's. That's the biggest thing for both you know both individual or people who are married and have kids. Is you want to wait until you are actually making?

Speaker 1:

money right, so just don't quit your job yeah, just like.

Speaker 2:

Oh, I'm running the business now, yeah, wait, you are making money, right. Um, first thing, that's for both. And now, if you are that individual with no responsibilities, you can't you have more. Uh, leeway right, because if you go ahead and, like you, just lower down your responsibilities, that you do have like with your bills right, save up three to six months of living expenses yeah, I was gonna say that, save some money.

Speaker 1:

Save some money before you quit right yeah, save some money.

Speaker 2:

You want to have three to six months of living expenses you know for you don't have, you don't have no responsibilities like a spouse or kids, like three to six months. Three to six months will suffice. Right, go out, take that risk because, hey, if all else fail, like you can just jump back into a job.

Speaker 2:

But now, if you do have a family, right, you have kids and you have a spouse uh, what you need to do is you for sure, for sure, for sure? I will say six to 12 months of living expenses saved up before you even make that jump? But when you save up that six months to 12 months of living expenses, don't just quit yet. The best thing that you need to do is to go ahead and let your business fire you from your job is to go ahead and let your business fire you from your job.

Speaker 2:

And what I mean by that why did they have to get fired, though?

Speaker 1:

I'm just saying like can't somebody just resign?

Speaker 2:

Why do they got to get fired? I like to say fired because the reason why is I want my business to fire me, right. And when you think of getting fired, it's like it's something that has to be done, that's urgent, right. It's something like boom, I just got fired, right. But when I say it like that, I say it like that because it's your business. That's saying hey, you're fired and that means, like you know, it's to the point your business is telling you like you're fired from this job.

Speaker 1:

You cannot work here anymore right, that's what I mean by that.

Speaker 2:

Yes, let your business fire you from your job, all right and so, but once you save up, and then you, you have your business plan and everything. Let your business fire you and see I thought you was gonna have.

Speaker 1:

I thought you were gonna talk about a strategy for getting more income. Uh, as you transition, yeah, my thought process as an hr professional. I was thinking like maybe get unemployment If you get fired from your job, then you can file for unemployment and get that unemployment money.

Speaker 2:

Look, that is a way, but no, that's not the way that I was saying. But you know no let your business fire you from your job, and then you know the great thing about it, though when your business fires you from your job like that means your business is fully functioning and fully flowing.

Speaker 2:

And I just want to just say this, even to those of you who are out there like for me right, I work a nine to five, and then I also work five to nine. I work nine to five and five to nine, so I work the first half on, you know, working at my job, because that's providing income for me and my family, right, paying off our bills. But on top of that, when I get off of work, I'm going back to work on my business.

Speaker 2:

And I will say yeah working for myself, and that's how it's going to be. And now, when it comes to a job and this is the last thing I'll say when it comes to a job, right, if you work in a job that you don't like, a job is just a job. You know what I'm saying. A job is just a job. It's different from you already being in a career, but the thing that I want to say about that is go find you the job that best fits for you to work your business as well. So if your business is running has to only be ran in the daytime, go ahead and get you a nighttime job.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and you know there's a lot of jobs and ways to make monies now and then Absolutely Believe it or not. You know doing delivery orders. Yes, you know doing those. I forgot what you call it those, those things with amazon where you get affiliate marketing yeah, delivering the packages? Okay, okay um, or even if it's just doing uber, right? Yeah, people make a lot of, and, in fact, a lot of, uber drivers. They make a career out of that, yeah.

Speaker 1:

You know, so and then that, and then that way you can have more flexibility as to when you want to work, versus you know somebody saying, hey, you need to come between the hours of 10.

Speaker 2:

PM to three in the morning, right yeah. So find a job that works for you. Find something that works for you Like they have remote jobs too, where you can literally work from home. So you know it's a lot of options out here In 2025, it's so many options for you to work a job and work your business until your business fire you from your job.

Speaker 1:

Man, that's really good. So thank y'all for listening to today's Career Chat. This has been an awesome time with you. So thank you all for listening to today's career chat.
